Alia Bhatt while talking to Elle USA recalled about the days when her father was addicted to alcohol and had no money. Read to know more.
Alia Bhatt recently discussed her privilege compared to parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan’s uphill journey. She recounted their setbacks before her stellar success. Speaking to Elle USA, Alia called Mahesh an inspirational figure. But early on, he battled alcoholism and career lows before directing acclaimed films like ‘Arth’ and ‘Saaransh’.
Alia stated, “He had flops, and had barely any money, and was fighting addiction. My parents struggled so I could enjoy their privilege. If I stop getting films, I’ll still acknowledge the opportunities I received.”Talking about her mom Soni Razdan, Alia shared she had zero film connections being raised abroad by a German mother and Kashmiri father.
On top of that Alia revealed that “She couldn’t speak Hindi well initially. She went door-to-door auditioning without contacts. She never became a mainstream heroine but worked very hard.”However, she was featured in TV shows like ‘Buniyaad’ before films like ‘Raazi’. But the odds were stacked against her as an outsider.
Alia’s observations about dad Mahesh and mom Soni Razdan‘s trials show maturity. Despite their hardships, they ensured she could spread her wings. Where her father Mahesh created a niche as a fearless filmmaker. Other hand her mom Soni carved her space despite limitations. It is good that the Raazi actress knows their sacrifices laid the ground for her stardom. Instead of entitlement, she acknowledges how timing, luck, and precedent paved her way. Therefore she comes across as grounded and socially aware.
Alia’s understanding towards her parents also reflects wisdom. Therefore she remains inspired by their determination in adverse conditions. And her profound statements reveal a growing maturity. We hope to see more of it.
